Songs that have meaning to me...

So, I received an email from a friend who wanted to play a "getting to know you/music" game. The idea was to share 10 songs that either mean something to you, describe who you are, or just favorite songs in general-and she would respond with her own list. I decided to go with songs that had some sort of meaning to me. And while I was at it, I thought I would share it with you! :D
Without further ado...here you go!

1. Britney Spears- Slave 4 You. Yea, i know..lol. It reminds me of a friend who passed away a few years ago. It was one of the songs I liked to listen to when it first came out. And it played all the time on the radio. We worked graveyards together. It got pretty boring so once I even did my Britney Spears impression. lol It wasn't pretty. And she is the only one who has ever seen my Britney dance. After that she once told me she thought of me every time she heard it. So now that she is gone, I think of HER when I hear it because she said it reminded her of me.

2. Simple Minds-Don't You Forget About Me. Just one of my favorite songs that reminds me of when I was a kid. :D That song played a lot on Mtv, back when Mtv was cool and actually had any relevance to music at all.

3. The Boys of Summer by Don Henley--reminds me of when I would stay at my grams house when I was little. This song was popular and played a lot and there was a kid in the video playing a drum set. My uncle once said he wanted a cool kid who could play drums. So its just stuck in my head as a song I listened to at my grams. :D

4. Roll the Credits by Paula DeAnda--reminds me of a man. The dumb ass.

5. Come Together --The Beatles I just love the Beatles. lol

6. Just the way you are --Bruno Mars  Its a song that reminds me that there are guys out there who know what's important and know just what to say.

7. Today Is Your Day --Shania Twain. This song makes me happy. I also saw the show that she did on own. She went through a LOT and is really working hard to get herself back. Its very inspiring.

8. Any song in the movie Grease! lol Because I've watched that movie since I was little and know the words to every song by heart. I could probably recite the movie back in its entirety (songs AND script) as I watched. haha haha  "Hey Sandy! You can't just walk out of a drive-in!"  *queue music and dancing hot dogs*

9. Mr. Know It All --by Kelly Clarkson. It means something to me because I've been underestimated a lot lately. Not by a guy, but by a couple people who are supposed to be close to me. One in particular who thinks she knows it all...to the point that she thinks she knows me more than I do myself. Its a song that kind of says, you don't know anything about me. I'm not going to let you tell me how to be or feel. Basically its what I would say to these two people, except without the man/woman relationship aspect of it.

10. Jesus--by Cadia. Because its about Jesus! :D lol

I Remember......#1

In fifth grade our teacher used to always read to us after lunch recess. She was great at reading stories, using different voices and inflections, she always made reading seem like so much fun. You could easily see yourself inside the story. Ever since I was little I enjoyed books, but it was this teacher in particular who really got me into reading. She once read us a Nancy Drew book-which one I don't quite remember-but after that I was hooked. I read the entire series after that. I think it may have taken a while but the rest of that year and over the summer, whenever I could get to the library I was down with Nancy Drew! :D This may have also been the beginning of my love for crime and investigation shows, but that's a story for another day...:D After getting into this series I was all about wanting to carry things I may need in case of an impromptu investigation! Because, you know how often that happens when your like...ten years old!

And apparently a screwdriver in her back pocket...
That girl always had every thing she needed...right in her purse! Mini flashlight, small sketch pad and color pencils (in case she needed to sketch a suspect of course!), well, then I needed it too! I still have a special place in my little heart for that girl detective, and have gone back and read several of those books all over again. Its a little different now that I'm an adult-the dialog is hokey and cheesy, but hey-they are classics! I never got to solve cases of my own (heehee) but I lugged that crap around forever in hopes that I would! And hey, maybe someday I will!

Reading Pumpkin Eaters??

So, I'm going to try my hand at book reviews. I've started a separate blog for it, and the link to that is on the bar to the left of this post! :D Its called Reader Reader Pumpkin Eater..for now anyway. Or until I can find something more jazzy, original and suited to my personality! There is already one post up though I know that there are going to be tweaks and improvements as I go. We shall see what happens!

Wish me luck!
